Guess 1 / 6

What is Nerdle?

Nerdle is the math version of Wordle: instead of guessing a word, you guess a hidden equation. Every guess must be a real, correct equation of the same length. After each guess, tiles turn green for a correct digit or symbol in the right spot, purple for correct but in the wrong spot, and gray for not in the equation at all. A brand-new Nerdle game today is generated automatically every day at midnight UTC, so the puzzle is the same for every player worldwide.

Frequently asked questions

  • Is there a new Nerdle every day?

Yes. A new equation is generated automatically at midnight UTC, so every player worldwide gets the same puzzle for the day.

  • How is Nerdle different from Wordle?

Instead of guessing a five-letter word, you guess an 8-character math equation. The rules are the same otherwise: green means correct position, purple (instead of yellow) means it's in the equation but in the wrong spot, and gray means it's not in the equation at all.

  • What happens if I don't solve it in 6 guesses?

The game ends and shows you the correct equation. You can try again tomorrow when a new puzzle is generated, or browse past answers in the archive.

  • Is Nerdle Today free to play?

Yes, completely free, with no sign-up required. Your guesses and stats are saved locally in your browser.

  • Does my guess have to use the same numbers as the answer?

No. Any equation that is the correct length and mathematically true is accepted as a guess, regardless of which numbers or operator it uses.

  • Where can I find previous Nerdle answers?
